Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.americanbasketballassociation.org today announced that the Tulsa Twisters have been added to its growing list of expansion teams for the upcoming season. "Harold Whaley, the team owner, has been working with the Tulsa Sports Commission, City and County officials and business leaders to put this team together," stated ABA Co-Founder Joe Newman. "With the latest viral police killing of an African-American male happening in Tulsa," added Mr. Whaley, "it is an opportune time to establish a voice and a program catered to give the North Tulsa area another alternative to focus on and we will be working through the Twister players to create a sports footprint designed to help drive down crime in Tulsa."
Another interesting twist to the Twisters is that the organization is partnering with various Native American tribes within a 50 mile radius of Tulsa and will have at least 5 Native Americans involved with the Twister program. For more information, email Harold Whaley at hwhaley@yahoo.com or call 619 717 6019 or visit www.americanbasketballassociation.org.
